1Q26 Earnings forecast: strong growth but increasingly polarized

Posted:  Mar 31, 2026

  • In 1Q26, we estimate that earnings across the overall market could post strong yoy growth of approximately 25%. However, this growth is unlikely to be broad-based, with gains concentrated in only a few sectors or companies benefiting from exceptional factors.
  • The sectors expected to deliver the strongest earnings growth in 1Q2026 include real estate (+407% yoy), mainly driven by VHM, oil & gas (+122% yoy), and retail (+46% yoy).
  • Some sectors are expected to underperform the broader market, including industrial park real estate (-23% yoy) due to lower land handover volume compared with last year’s high base, the export (-21% yoy), and aviation (-10% yoy) due to the impact of fuel costs.
