3Q26 earnings forecast: Profit growth expected to decelerate
Posted: Sep 28, 2026
- We forecast market-wide earnings to grow 25% YoY in Q3/26; this growth rate may start to decelerate versus Q1 and Q2 due to the high interest rate environment, while toward year-end the low-base effect will gradually fade and profit growth will tend to normalize.
- In Q3/2026, sectors with standout profit growth include residential properties (+214% YoY) thanks to VHM, oil & gas (+94% YoY) on elevated oil prices, retail (+70% YoY) on a favorable ICT-CE replacement cycle, and transportation (+53% YoY) on deep-water port operators accelerating.
- Some sectors may post profit declines due to rising input costs, such as construction (-85% YoY), exports (-42% YoY), and aviation (-40% YoY).
