The overnight interbank interest rate fell to a more-than-one-month low of 3.7% on 24 April, before rebounding and anchoring at 6.3% by month-end due to rising liquidity pressures prior to the public holiday.

In compliance with directives issued by the SBV, a substantial number of commercial banks implemented reductions in deposit interest rates throughout April. Nonetheless, the average 12-month deposit rate of commercial banks remained elevated at 8.31% (+ 2.53 percentage points YTD)

The DXY declined by 1% in April, thereby alleviating exchange rate pressures. The interbank exchange rate displayed notable stability, oscillating within a narrow range of 26,330 – 26,350 VND/USD.
